Although the Nike Air Force 1 could rest on its laurels, simply releasing in triple-“White” for the remainder of its lifecycle, it doesn’t. And as it inches closer to what’ll surely be a blockbuster 40th anniversary in 2022, Bruce Kilgore’s design continues to emerge in refreshing new styles, the latest utilizing non-standard Crater Foam and Flyknit construction.
Each aforementioned component isn’t new to the Nike Sportswear classic, but only until recently have they joined forces to reimagine the Air Force 1 Low. Knit construction across the upper primarily boasts a “Wolf Grey” arrangement, but hits of red, blue and orange deliver contrast from toe to spine. Profile swooshes, laces and upper heel panels don’t boast bold “Gym Red” flair like the tongue label, but partake in a differing white makeup nonetheless. Crater Foam sole units, which were introduced via the Space Hippie lineup, reprise a light grey aesthetic that delivers style while also helping upcycle manufacturing floor scraps.
